Grupo Smile

Grupo Smile, a Colombian company in the food and hospitality sector, grew with a strong sense of identity and purpose, organically integrating responsible practices into its operations. However, these efforts lacked structure and a clear long-term vision to support decision-making and future growth.

The Challenge

Although there was a genuine intention to create value beyond the core business, the organization lacked clarity on where to begin its sustainability journey. The challenge was to build a shared vision, define priorities, organize existing practices, and embed sustainability as a way of operating beyond compliance.

Our Approach

  • Led Grupo Smile’s B Corp certification, formalizing existing practices and aligning the organization around a shared purpose.
     

  • Built and embedded a sustainability strategy with clear leadership, defined priorities, and implementation capacity across talent development, supply chain, organizational culture, and impact communication.
     

  • Engaged leaders across the organization through sustainability workshops, building shared ownership and a common language.
     

  • Launched La Academia, an education platform created to strengthen human talent in the gastronomic sector.

Outcome

The Grupo Smile case demonstrated that sustainability grows from what already exists. By organizing and strengthening ongoing efforts, the organization built an actionable strategy aligned with its culture. Sustainability became a way of thinking, deciding, and growing.
